SIMON PITTMAN - Director

SIMON PITTMAN is Co-Founder of inForm Theatre and in this role he both directs productions and facilitates educational workshops in drama and theatre across the country. Directed work for the company includes The Big Half, the small ha'f (Pleasance Theatre islington), Hospitals and Other Buildings That Catch Fire (NSDF 2006 / Smirnoff Underbelly, Edinburgh 2005) and After the Garden (Theatro Technis, Camden).
Theatre: Simon is currently working on a season of plays with Tara Arts for 2008 and on a piece of Dance Theatre that is touring to a festival in Hungary in May 08. Freelance directing credits include: Peer Gynt in a version by Frank McGuinness (guest director/tutor at The Arts Institute, Bournemouth), Not A Game For Boys by Simon Block (Library Theatre, Manchester 2007) Do You See Mice? and A Treadmark On My Heart by Joseph Millington (Bite-sized at Theatre 503, Battersea 2006), Attempts on Her Life (Studio Theatre, RHUL 2003). As assistant director: Ravenhill for Breakfast (Paines Plough at The Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh 2007), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Chapter Two by Neil Simon, The Golden Goose by Charles Way (Library Theatre, Manchester 2006-07), Cinderella (Guildhall School of Music and Drama 2005).
Simon was Resident Director at the Library Theatre, Manchester 2006-07.
He is assistant director for Guildhall's summer school programme and is an associate artist of Theatre Trash with whom he devised and performed Battery Operated Birds (Pleasance, Edinburgh Festival 2002).
Training: Simon read Drama and Theatre (BA Hons) at Royal Holloway, University of London and trained on the MFA Director Training program at Birkbeck, University of London, supported by Arts Council England and the Arts and Humanities Research Council award for professional training in the Arts. During the program Simon worked with the National Theatre Studio, Motley Design School, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

London-based InForm Theatre was established by Phil King and Simon Pittman in 2003 to provide practical workshops for schools, colleges and universities. From there it has grown into a theatre company committed to developing new writing and physically aware performance. We are a not for profit organisation.
